An Overview of the month of May

What took place in the month of Family Recovery?

The month of May has been a divine rendezvous with God, dedicated to the recovery and restoration of families. In this sacred time, we have focused on addressing the struggles of broken, hopeless, and frustrated families by returning the radar to God, who is the true initiator of family life. We have sought the guidance of the Holy Spirit, our Helper, to remind us of our roles within the family unit. Recognizing that many familial issues stem from being misplaced, we have witnessed the transformative hand of God at work. Families have been restored and re-anchored in their faith, reaffirming God as the ultimate creator and sustainer of families.

The week of “Serving God to recover from generational curses”

Many people are born into families where ancestors have sacrificed their generations to evil forces. This is why choosing to follow Jesus and serve the Lord can be challenging because it means redirecting the family’s spiritual path. Serving the Lord is not just a personal decision; it impacts future generations as well. By embracing your calling and serving God, you set a new course for your family, ensuring a legacy of faith and righteousness for those who follow.

People often judge you by your wounds, your past, and your weaknesses, not realising that you’ve embraced a new life through accepting Jesus. May God announce in your city that your past has changed. Hallelujah!

Reference Scripture

Joshua 24:14-15 “14 Now therefore, fear the Lord, serve Him in sincerity and in truth, and put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of [d]the River and in Egypt. Serve the Lord! 15 And if it seems evil to you to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of [e]the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”

Be busy with God’s work, and He will take care of your battles. Serve God diligently, and He will look after your loved ones. In Jesus, you become a new creation. Paul advised us not to predict people’s futures based on their ancestors, acknowledging the transformative power of God.

Destroy the altars and remove the idols. Anointing is the weapon you need to tear down these altars. God wants us to return our families to the foundation of His altar, ensuring that our people are saved and all false altars are destroyed.

It’s time to step into your calling and embrace the path the Lord has set for you, both the good and the challenging. The hard times will train and build you, and the Lord will care for and bless you and yours.

The week of “Prayer that brings happiness to a frustrated family”

In moments of despair, prayer offers solace and hope, much like it did for Hannah in 1 Samuel. Hannah’s fervent prayers and unwavering faith led to the blessing of her son, Samuel. Similarly, Ezekiel’s call for someone to stand in the gap resonates with families in turmoil, seeking divine intervention and support. Through prayer, families find strength and healing, transforming sorrow into joy. It fosters patience, empathy, and resilience, paving the way for enduring happiness amidst adversity. By turning to prayer, individuals and families can navigate through their challenges with a renewed sense of hope and purpose.

Don’t play with what God has given you because there is someone nearby praying for what you have; if you neglect it, it will be given to them. Faith carries value, and you cannot have faith in what you don’t value—for instance, if you don’t value a Man of God, his anointing cannot work for you. If you want a miracle, seek the God who is looking for you. While Jesus came to seek us, we must also seek Him properly for Him to meet us. As stated in Matthew 6:33, “Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.”

Reference Scripture:

1 Samuel 1:8-9, 20 “8 Then Elkanah her husband said to her, “Hannah, why do you weep? Why do you not eat? And why is your heart grieved? Am I not better to you than ten sons?”

9 So Hannah arose after they had finished eating and drinking in Shiloh. Now Eli the priest was sitting on the seat by the doorpost of the [c]tabernacle of the Lord. 10 And she was in bitterness of soul, and prayed to the Lord and [d]wept in anguish.” 20 So in the course of time, Hannah became pregnant and gave birth to a son. She named him Samuel, saying, “Because I asked the Lord for him.”
Don’t rely on others to hear God for you. Pray and seek to hear Him yourself. God is looking for someone who will stand in the gap for their family and seek Him.

However, faith will always move you to action; if you come to church and what you learn doesn’t push you to make changes, then what you are practising is merely religion. Religion allows for analysis without action, but true faith compels you to act and transform.

Sometimes seeking God in prayer may seem irresponsible, but God will remove your shame. Personalise your heartfelt prayers because persistent prayer brings results. Faith-driven prayer moves you into actions that others might not understand, unlike religion, which keeps you stationary.

The week of “Lord, pour out your Spirit on our families”

As the Holy Spirit permeates our homes, we envisage a transformative awakening, where our hearts and minds are attuned to the divine presence among us. Through His guiding influence, our families are poised to experience a heightened awareness of His grace, a deeper understanding of His will, and a strengthened connection to one another.

The main goal of the Holy Spirit is to transform ordinary men into supernatural men. It takes faith to receive the Holy Spirit, and He comes where there is the power of unity. Transformation is inevitable with the Holy Spirit, but it requires your willingness to be transformed; otherwise, you remain stagnant. A lack of transformation in your life or family raises questions about the spirit within you (1 Corinthians 12:31). The Holy Spirit works on your thoughts and ideas, renewing your mind and aligning your flesh with a heavenly mindset.

In reflecting on Scripture, it becomes evident that promises of the Holy Spirit are not exclusively for pastors but for entire families. This week’s prayers for families are rooted in the assurance that all members, regardless of age or role, are entitled to receive the Holy Spirit. While initially given in the Old Testament, the fulfilment of this promise in the New Testament underscores God’s faithfulness across time. The Holy Spirit is not earned through suffering or fasting but is graciously given by God to those who love Him. It’s important to recognize that the Holy Spirit is not a reward but a gift from God, available to all who seek Him.

Reference Scripture:

Joel 2:28-29 “28 And it shall come to pass afterward

That I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh; Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,

Your old men shall dream dreams, Your young men shall see visions.

29 And also on My menservants and on My maidservants

I will pour out My Spirit in those days.”
The Holy Spirit awakens our senses to be ready for opportunities, ensuring we’re prepared for God’s power when it comes at crucial moments, shaping our lives and futures. He gives us a new language, signifying a new life, and reveals the inheritance God has set aside for us. Without spiritual activation, we may miss out on our blessings and struggle where we should be succeeding.

When the Holy Spirit enters your life, several transformative effects become evident. Firstly, he activates your spiritual senses, allowing you to perceive and understand the workings of God in your life. Secondly, the Holy Spirit brings about profound transformation. More than just granting material blessings, God’s aim is to shape and mould you into the person He designed you to be. Additionally, the Holy Spirit empowers you in various aspects of life.

The week of “Time to bring back the divine order our families”

This week, the Holy Spirit worked not only in our families but also in our personal lives, bringing perfect order. We needed to put things in order to receive and manifest the Holy Spirit. When He restored order in our families, it was because God had noticed disorder, with family members not fulfilling their roles properly.

When God positions you somewhere and you misplace yourself, He finds it hard to manifest in your life because you are not where He wants you to be. It is time to examine our lives to see if we are where we need to be and doing what we need to be doing; this is when we will see the glory of God. Having the image of God means you are endowed with the nature of God, the life of God, and the power of God.

Reference Scripture:

Colossians 3:18-25 “18 Wives, submit to your own husbands, as is fitting in the Lord. 19 Husbands, love your wives and do not be bitter toward them. 20 Children, obey your parents in all things, for this is well pleasing to the Lord. 21 Fathers, do not provoke your children, lest they become discouraged.

22 Bondservants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh, not with eyeservice, as men-pleasers, but in sincerity of heart, fearing God. 23 And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men, 24 knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for[a] you serve the Lord Christ. 25 But he who does wrong will be repaid for what he has done, and there is no partiality.”
According to God, a Christian family is one that respects the principles of the Bible, where every member of the family understands and plays the role that God assigned to them. This means that in a family, everyone has a role to play. The family is not a human-invented institution but a Godly one, established as a blessing to humanity. A man is called to be the leader of the family.

It is God’s initiative and that of the Holy spirit to put together man and woman and unite them in His image and bless them. Men were created for friendship and communion with God, partnership with His power, and the distribution of responsibilities, such as naming animals. They are to protect their environment and embody God’s word. Women have the capacity to keep things moving, amplify and multiply what they receive, bring out the hidden potential in men, operate as anointing, and grant authority to their husbands. Both men and women were designed to fulfil complementary roles within God’s divine plan.

The man of God reminded us that we belong to God and are the temple of the Lord. The Bible says that God takes the weak and the lowly and positions them in great places. This means that anyone who feels low is a potential candidate for such elevation.  It is time to restore divine order in our families by following biblical principles of harmony and respect. Hallelujah!

The week of “Biblical parenting”

A human being is composed of three components: the body, the soul, and the spirit. Every day, we often focus on caring for the body, neglecting the other parts, especially in the context of our children. Our main concern is their well-being, but we mistakenly believe that it lies solely in their physical health. Surprisingly, you find that parents may take care of their own holistic well-being but fail to do the same for their children.

We may become very busy with the work of God, spending time in prayer and dwelling in His presence, which is good. However, we often neglect the fact that our families, especially our children, need that same spiritual life. It’s time to pass on to our offspring the resurrected life we cherish, as it is needed at home.

Reference Scripture:

Proverbs 22:6: “Train up a child in the way he should go, And when he is old he will not depart from it.”

2 Timothy 3:15: “15 And that from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.”

All that we do, our children observe; what we speak, our children listen. If you want to train your children, you should do so by example. Invite them to join you where you are, to do what you do, say what you say, and spend time where you spend time. Stand where you want them to be and show them the way.

However, if you preach what you do not practise, your children may be silent now because they are not yet adults, but as they grow, they will reveal the true lessons you have imparted to them. God is asking parents to lead their children and train them to serve the Lord. By setting a strong example through their actions and words, parents can guide their children towards a life of faith and devotion.
